Home Alone

Happy Holidays!!!! So the holidays have started and to continue the theme I am doing my blog about Home Alone. Not just the first one but all three. So the Home Alone trilogy is probably one of my favorite movie trilogies. I have loved watching all the movies ever since I was a kid. If you haven't already seen the movies I really recommend them. It is a fantastic, holiday spirit, trilogy.
The first Home Alone movie is about the McCallister family around Christmas time. So it's the holidays and the family is going on a trip to Paris. How nice and peaceful? Right...... Well no, in this family's case they have to make it to the airport in not enough time. Kevin (the guy the picture) is left home alone while the family is on their way to Paris. Kevin thinks this is going to be lots of fun eating pizza and jumping on his parents bed. Later he then finds out that there are two burglars, Harry and Marc, about to rob his house. Due to this knowledge he wired his own house with traps he built to stop the burglars. And finally bring the burglars to justice.

In the second movie, Kevin is back.... Yay! If Kevin is back then something is going to go wrong. As the whole family (including Kevin) is at the airport, Kevin seems to have found himself on the wrong flight. Instead of going to Miami, he wound up on a flight to New York. He is in New York but he is not alone. He, yet again, has to defend himself from the "wet bandits" Marc and Harry. Kevin finds out they are planning to rob a toy store. Yet again he plans another set of traps for them. This time they will not forget their experience with Kevin.

In Home Alone 3, their are four crooks trying to disguise a secret computer chip in a toy car, but the car ends up to take them on a detour. After the crooks picked up the wrong bag at security they go on an adventure to Chicago. The crooks follow their misplaced bag to a neiborhood of Christmas. The toy car gets handed to one of the neighbors as a present. As the crooks try and catch the toy car, they aren't as secretive as they hoped. As Alex (the guy in the picture) sees the crooks and calls the cops, the crooks are gone before the cops get there. This happens 3 days in a row, until they get to Alex's house. At Alex's house there are a series of traps and then the crooks get caught. If you want full details of these wonderful movies, I would say they are wonderful to watch at Christmas time.

It's a Wonderful Life

Hello lovely people, welcome back to my blog. I hope you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving, that's why I didn't post for 2 weeks. Well, now to start of the December month and Holiday spirit I am doing this blog about the fantastic movie "It's a Wonderful Life." Starring James Stewart, Donna Reed, and Lionel Barrymore.

This movie is about a man named George Bailey (James Stewart) and how he had always wanted to travel, ever since he was a little kid. As he got older his pa' started to get very ill and had George take over the family business. George had no other option or else the company that wants to take over the Baileys family business will do so. So George takes over and sees his travel wishes fly by him. As he starts his business, the business starts to go down hill. Then George takes his travel money, that he was going to use with his wife on their honeymoon. That money made the business better then ever. After his partner/uncle misplaces 8,000 dollars and he realizes he will be thrown in jail. He is now suicidal. All of his families worries about him cause a guardian angel named Clarence to appear. As they are talking George wishes that he had not been born. To prove a lesson to George the angel grants his wish. As they walk around town everything has been treated poorly and changed. Even the towns name changed. He realizes that everyone he loved are either dead or miserable. He noticed that he has touched so many lives in a positive way that he has one of the best lives.

Run Forrest, Run

Hello, welcome back to my blog and this weeks theme is Forrest Gump. This amusing movie with Tom Hanks staring as Forest Gump. This movie came out in 1994. In a matter of age, this movie isn't that old, but I still consider it a classic. Just because of the way Tom Hanks portrays Forest Gump's life; A very simple man yet he has very profound outlook on a complex world.

Many of the quotes that Forrest got from his mama are used commonly. One of those quotes is "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get." He says this quote very early on in the movie, when he is sitting on the bench talking to people next to him. Forrest had the most experienced life. Which also made his life a unique one.

From Forrest's military experience, and his mama's life lessons, he knew it all. Even if he was a little slow he had the best life. From the moment his child hood friend Jenny shouted at Forest to "Run Forest, Run" from the bully's to the end, he is in love with her. He had a way of changing people for the better. He will never have a disadvantage, he'll have a new perspective.

007..... James Bond

Welcome back to my blog! So this week the new movie "Spectre" came out. Since this wonderful movie just came out I decided to do a James Bond themed blog. So some of the best known James Bond movies are Skyfall, Golden Eye, Dr. No, and Casino Royale. There are many more action packed movies but these are the main ones. Even though there have been many James Bond actors they all like the same drink, a Martini shaken not stirred.
So these movies are really good if you like action movies. If you don't then you probably wouldn't like these movies. So James Bond is a double O agent, he is 007. He is one of the best in that agency that work for Her Majesty. The agents in the double O group have a license to kill. Bond usually introduces himself by saying something that's like "the names Bond, James Bond."  With him follows disaster. When I say I follow I mostly mean it. In most of the movies he is a car race when they are both shooting guns at each other. M is his boss, she/he helps Bond but doesn't really show it. Q is in his agency and he creates weapons for him, he also creates cars for Bond but they never make it to the nest movie. What I thought was funny in the last movie was that Q had said "when I say bring it back in one piece I mean to bring it back in one peice, not the bring back one peice." That concludes this blog, and never get in a car with Bond.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice ...

Happy Halloween everyone! so this week on my blog I am going to be talking about Beetlejuice!
The wonderful actress Winona Ryder played Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice. Michael Keaton played the crazy Betelgeuse. Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis played the married couple Adam and Barbra Maitland. These characters have there own craziness that all combines to make the horror comedy of Beetlejuice.                                                                        Left: Alec Baldwin         Right: Geena Davis
Left: Michael Keaton    Right: Winona Ryder

And.... the craziness begins... Try to follow along....

So this funny movie all starts when Mr. and Mrs. Maitland (right Picture) move to a new neighborhood. They went out for a drive to look at the neighborhood and on the way home they end up driving off a bridge. Magical moments later they ended up back in their new home. They were taken by surprise when the looked over and found a book titled "Handbook for the recently deceased." That is when Mr. & Mrs. realized they hadn't survived the crash. They tried to go outside of their house but each time they tried they mysteriously ended up somewhere. Fast forward, a new family had moved into their home, the family was the Deetz's. They kept trying to change the house so the Maitland's couldn't think of anything to do beside haunt them. That idea of haunting the house lead the the "Betelgeuse" (Beetlejuice). He was way too crazy so they tried to haunt the new family by themselves. They tried almost everything to be rid of Beetlejuice, but nothing worked. Therefore they used Beetlejuice's so called help. Which caused Lydia (the Deetz's daughter) to notice something strange. She then discovered the Maitland's secret. She helped them out as much as she could. Later on, Lydia's parents discovered the Maitland's secret then experimented on them. So don't EVER say Beetlejuice three times in a row, you never know if you can trust him.

Back To The Future

Phew, we made it. Okay so some people might know that today is THE day. I mean the day that Marty McFly made it back to the future in the second movie of "Back to the Future." He made it back on October 21, 2015!  Back to the Future is not only the greatest movie, but it is the greatest trilogy. Yes I know how amazing, it's a trilogy!

Sadly we don't have the Hoverboards or the tieable shoes. As they expected back in the good ol' days. We will just have to deal with it until scientists can figure out a way to actually invent those fascinating, futuristic objects. And most importantly we do not have a time machine, very sad.  The closest thing to a hoverboard now-a-days is a glider.

In the first Back to the Future, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) was sent from 1985 to 1955, 30 years back, in an invention his friend "Doc" made. Dr. Emmet Brown (Christopher Lloyd) made a time-traveling DeLorean. It traveled though time when you hit the speed of 88 miles per hour. Marty was sent back he met his mom and dad when they were in high school. He had accidentally became his moms interest and had to reverse that for his life's sake. While trying to play match maker for his mom and dad he had to figure out a way of getting back to 1985.

In the second Back to the Future, he goes to the future, to try and prevent bad things from happening. He was sent to the future to act as his son to keep him from going to jail. As he goes to the future it brings him back to 1955. To make sure nothing changes then. While trying to make sure nothing changes, in 1955, he has to try and not interfer with his previous trip.

In the third back to the future, Marty goes to the past because he had recieved a strange letter from doc. Then fiding out that doc had been killed two days later. When Marty finds this out he goes to the old west to try and save his friend. When a new challenge arises they cant leave. That happens to be the exact time they are in the most trouble.  Me personally this is my favorite part out of all three movies. I think it does'nt get enough credit, because of the two brilliant movies before it. So keep your eyes out for Marty McFly.

I Love Lucy

Today I am going to explain or splain about the very funny sitcom I Love Lucy.  If your not familiar with this comedy then you should know that it stars Lucille Ball (Lucy) and Desi Arnaz( Ricky). This show is basically about Lucy, Ricky's wife, getting into all this trouble to do something but it always ends up taking a detour. And not working out the way that she wanted. She is basically a Gilligan (if you read my introduction blog, about gilligans island.) She is a very funny comedian, and she makes the show very  hilarious  with Desi.

This show has six seasons, and there is only one episode is in color, the rest are in black in white. The one episode that is in color is the Christmas special that airs annually in December . I have four favorite episodes, they are: "Lucy's Italian Movie", "Lucy does a Commercial", "L.A. at Last", and "redecorating". Each of these episodes are their own comedic way of expressing life. Their life is especially weird and fascinating because of Lucy.

In "Lucy's Italian movie", Lucy goes to the grape vineyard and she starts to squish grapes in this big vat and the other person that is squishing the grapes gets mad and so they end up throwing grapes at each other and Lucy ends up making another one of her messes. In "Lucy does a Commercial", Lucy goes on a commercial and she is the  "vitameatavegamin girl". They make her drink this drink and since she isn't a professional she has to redo the commercial lots of times. In one of her retries she starts to slur her words, so the directors read the ingredients and alcohol was in it so she was really hysterical, like she was on laughing gas. Which made for a really funny episode, it is one of the most famous episodes. In "LA at last", Lucy and her friends go to a nice restaurant, while Ricky her husband goes to a job interview thing. There she mets this really famous person, that she really likes. So she starts to stare behind a pot and he gets creeped out, so he starts to stare back at her and she got uncomfortable, then ending up spilling food over him. Finally in "redecorating" Lucy wants new wallpaper so she does it with Ethel but ends up putting wallpaper over the doors including the closet where Ethel was.
One of the most popular quotes is " Lucy you've got some splaining to do" which Ricky would yell when Lucy did  something wrong. That's why I used splaining in the beginning of the blog. It was really funny in one episode Ricky asked how to spell explain and Lucy spelled it, then Ricky said " there's and 'ex' in it?" In " Lucy and superman" Lucy got stuck on the ledge outside their apartment and superman ends up saving her and asked Ricky "you've been married to her 15 years? And they call me superman!" So anyway hope you don't have to splain anything.

The Beatles

Hello, "If you can hear me from the cheap seats rattle your jewelry." Said John Lennon at one of the Beatles concerts. And if you haven't figured it out yet then this blog is about one of the greatest rock bands, The Beatles. The four members were Paul McCartney (lead singer), Ringo Starr (Drummer), John Lennon (Lead guitar and some vocals), and George Harrison (backup guitar). This band was formed in Liverpool,England,  in the 1960's.

Top: John and Paul

Bottom: Ringo and George

They first started off with rock music, but then later went to all sorts of music. The Beatles have 27 studio albums, 4 live albums, 52 compilation   albums, 55 singles, and 37 music videos. They won one Academy award, 10 grammy awards, 3 BRIT awards, and 1 world music award. They were nominated 18 times did the Grammys, but didn't win. Once for the ECHO awards. Also, the American music awards.

Sadly only two of the members are still Alive and playing. Those two members are Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. The other two, John Lennon and George Harrison have been killed. John was shot and killed in December 1980. George died of lung cancer in November 2001.
So still to this day the Beatles rock the house.

Mayberry's Greatest

Hello, people! So fifty-five years ago today, the world was introduced to Sheriff Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee, and Deputy Barney. Some people won’t know what I am talking about. Well, I am talking about the hilarious Andy Griffith Show. This show was fist aired in America, on CBS, October 3, 1960. To the dismay of loyal fans, The Andy Griffith show ended on April 1, 1968, sadly this show only lasted for 8 years. Even though it is still one of the best wholesome classics enjoyed by those who have seen it.
TOP: Andy Griffith, Don Knotts
BOTTOM: Ron Howard, Frances Bavier

This show was about a single dad, Sheriff Andy, who lived with his sister, Aunt Bee, and his son, Opie. Since Andy is the sheriff in the town he is supposed to be busy with work, but most of the time he spends it watching after his deputy and cousin Barney. This show is a spin-off of The Danny Thomas show. This show has a very mellow setting, but with all the mellowness comes Barney. Barney tries the best he can but sometimes people think less of him. Barney always finds himself in trouble, so he is lucky to have Andy on his side.

Magical Nanny

Hello, welcome back to my blog! So today's blog is about Mary Poppins. So one month and 51 years ago today the Mary Poppins musical was first released to the world, it was first released on August 27, 1964. This wonderful musical is about a nanny, Mary Poppins, who comes to work for Mr. Banks and his family. What I love about this musical is that, all of a sudden this perfect nanny comes into the musical by flying down holding her umbrella in her hand. She also comes with a bag, not just any old bag, a magic bag. This bag has all of her things in it. This magic bag has an unlimited amount of space in it. I also like how every thing she does she makes it seem like so much fun. She makes chores and tasks look like your playing a game. Which she says in the musical. "In every job that must be done there is an element of fun. You find the fun and snap, the jobs a game."  Later on she introduces us to her friend Bert, with him comes adventure. He takes them into one of his sidewalk drawings and introduces us to "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious".  Another quote is "First of all, I would like to make one thing very clear: I never explain anything." One of my favorite quotes is "There's the whole world at your feet and who gets to see it but the birds, the stars, and the chimney sweeps." Here is a picture of when she says the quote and one of their adventures.
Mary Poppins

I think they did an excellent job of casting Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins and DickVan Dyke as Bert. They are both wonderful actors who are very talented. So don't expect Mary Poppins to explain anything to you when she's your nanny.

Introduction

Hello, so this is my first blog and this blog is going to be about classics …Yay. Okay so my name is Winona and I love classic movies, books, and TV programs. So I first got into classics a couple of years ago and have loved them ever since. The first classic I ever watched was a very funny TV show called Gilligan’s Island. It is a show about seven people who were stranded on an uncharted island, after a really bad storm that over took their boat. The seven people were the Skipper, Gilligan, the professor, Ginger, Mary Ann, Thurston Howell the III, and his wife, Lovey.

The skipper was the captain of the ship, that they were touring on but it took a little detour. Gilligan was the first mate who always wound up getting into a whole lot of trouble, later on in one of their many attempts to get off the island they found out that Gilligan was the one who caused the accident that stranded them. The professor was a very smart science teacher who learned a lot on the island. Ginger was a famous movie star who had red hair, ginger is a person who has red hair so I think that’s where they got her name. Mary Ann was a farmer girl who was raised in Kansas and has a very caring personality. The Howells are millionaires, thanks to the stock market, they are very wealthy people who don’t believe in work. This whole accident started with a three hour tour. This show is a very funny comedy from 1964 and 1965. After I watched the first episode I spent the next week watching all of the other 97 episodes, a total of 98 episodes. After about five episodes I had memorized the theme song. I can’t really say if I have a favorite episode because I like them all, but I really like the episode “not guilty” it was about a Honolulu newspaper saying that one of the castaways was a suspect of murder and then the castaways solved the murder. As I was watching the TV episodes I realized that it was a very popular island for being uncharted. Up to this day I still watch all the reruns of Gilligan’s island because there just so good. Well better be careful next time you go on a three hour tour.
